It is a glorious, sunny, hot, humid weekend here in the land of pleasant living as we celebrate the founding of the greatest nation in the history of the world. As such, in these troubled times, I offer you the happiest of tidings, with my “profession of faith”…. call it the “unwokes creed”…..
I believe in the freedom of small “r” republicanism, and its economic system, capitalism, and I reject the yoke of communism, and its repressive economic system, socialism.
I believe that all lives matter, black, white, and every shade in between, born and yet to be born.
I believe in a loving God, who I choose to worship in a particular way, traditionally passed down to me thru generations. I support the manner in which you choose to support a loving God, passed down to you thru generations, or your right to not believe in God at all, so long as you don’t infringe on my right to peacefully do so and do not impose your ways on me.
I believe in the individual, and make the sincere effort to treat every individual I meet on the merits of their character. I strive not to judge one race, or one profession, or any other slice of society, in a blanket fashion based on the actions of a few. I will also call out the negative actions of “the few” when necessary, regardless of their affiliation to any slice of society, and expect all people of good conscience to do the same.
I believe in our national motto, “e pluribus unum”, out of many one. May you find strength and comfort in diversity, but not as a cudgel to fracture a mighty nation into warring factions.
I believe Ronald Reagan was right to say “the best social program is a job”, and I welcome ever more ways to create more of them.
I believe John Wayne was right to say “life is hard. It’s harder when you’re stupid.” I support your right to be stupid, just not at my expense, and with a willingness to accept the potential consequences of your “stupidity” without blaming me, society, etc etc.
I believe in the quaint notion that “marriage” is between one man and one woman. I don’t particularly care what you do as consenting adults in the privacy of your own bedroom, but I don’t need it thrown in my face in a regular, never ending cycle of “virtue signaling”. I don’t need it incessantly presented to my children, with an agenda, as just another way of life, when I believe its not good, right, or natural. I believe men pretending to be women and women pretending to be men is mental illness as much as anything, yet that doesn’t lessen my compassion. But don’t piss on my leg and tell me its raining.
I believe for all its flaws, the United States of America is the greatest nation in the history of the world. Perfection is not to be found in the creations of man, and I welcome progress and improvement, but not a “fundamental change” of the founding principles and intentions that have made this nation what it is.
Happy 4th of July.
