Jihad Squad Member Rashida Tlaib: Make The Minimum Wage $20/hr!

Why just impeach the President when she can impeach your job?

Democrats never tire of coming for your job, as evidenced by Congress passing a law mandating an increase to $15/hour. Fortunately, that econocide measure won’t reach the President’s desk, but as usual, Leftists are never satisfied until they’ve found a way to completely wreck the American way of life & prosperity.

Enter in one of the self-identified members of the congressional Jihad Squad caucus, Rashida Tlaib (D-MI). Not content to be known as that one crazy lady who can only talk about Trump with a string of profanities, she feels that the $15/hr minimum wage simply doesn’t go to far and that it should be $20. Video is at the bottom, so that maybe you’ll read more of this post 😛

How she comes to this conclusion is on par with her colleague Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in her own understanding of economics. She makes the false claim that “everything” has gone up in price, so wages should be forced to do so at gunpoint. It’s an easy applause line in front of friendly audience, but is nothing more than weak argument that boils down to “a rising tide lifts all boats.” That sounds nice and all, but money isn’t water and the economy is not a real ocean. It’s not a board game either, like Democratic Presidential candidate Andrew Yang wants to pretend.  But demonstrably bad policies never stop Democrats from fighting for them. Just ask the burgeoning rodent populations of the Democratically-controlled paradise of California.

I don’t listen to Glenn Beck anymore, but back before he revealed himself to be a Tea Partier-in- name-only, he did make a fantastic argument against the federal minimum wage in his title An Inconvenient Book. There was one chapter dedicated to arguing against the min. wage and the preface title was: “The federal minimum wage should be $0.” It then went on to provide information on how minimum wages kill jobs and that if you’re going to force businesses to hire people at a certain rate per hour, it should be left to the States.

What are the real costs of ignoring the productive laws of supply & demand by arbitrarily raising bottom wages? Cut hours & increased product prices. Low-skill jobs replaced by robots. Reduced or eliminated benefits. Bankruptcy & unemployment. Making small businesses (particularly niche stores) obsolete. Shutting the door on inexperienced & young workers.

You can also consider that the min. wage has been raised numerous times (on city/state/federal levels) over the decades, and yet the problem they claim would be resolved (lower or no poverty) persists. California just loves to tout about how strong of an economy they have on their own, yet they keep setting new records of homelessness in the state (note: I’m not saying that high min wages are the single, direct cause of such problems in Cali; it’s one of many stupid policies that Democrats implement that only get worse thanks to their “solutions.”)

But at the end of the day, it’s about giving politicians and big business tycoons the warm fuzzies as it’s a sure-fire way to eliminate the competition. In the case of politicians, the competition is voting for the other guy, who was ‘mean’ and didn’t want to ‘help the poor’ by using logic & evidence over those nebulous feelings. Don’t bother shaming them about it though, Democrats and hypocrisy get along famously well. It’s also very much a tool loved by socialists and communists alike, as when the government gets to have that level of control over the fruits of your labor, then they don’t have to deal with that pesky idea of freedom.

I found this interesting quote from Murray N. Rothbard. Mrs. Tlaib certainly hasn’t heard of him, as that would require reading a book and putting some effort into thinking:

In truth, there is only one way to regard a minimum wage law: it is compulsory unemployment, period. The law says: it is illegal, and therefore criminal, for anyone to hire anyone else below the level of X dollars an hour. This means, plainly and simply, that a large number of free and voluntary wage contracts are now outlawed and hence that there will be a large amount of unemployment. Remember that the minimum wage law provides no jobs; it only outlaws them; and outlawed jobs are the inevitable result.

He then went onto mention the classic argument of “why stop at X amount of dollars? Why not $10 an hour? $100? $1,000?” I imagine that if Rashid had done so, she might have realized just how idiotic the federal minimum wage is, but that’s a big might.
