At first I thought that this week’s Gaming/tech thread was going to be a little shorter than normal but then I managed to collect enough news to fill it out. that said, the descriptions are shorter than normal. I was out on business to the IAAPA 2016 trade show in Orlando, FL since Sunday so I’ve been out of the loop on politics and other gaming things that aren’t amusement/arcade related.
What are you playing this week?
For me it was all sorts of arcade goodness – Daytona 3, Cruis’n Blast, Dialed In! Pinball, Medieval Madness Pinball, The Walking Dead Arcade, Green Bowling, Omi Arena VR, Meleap HADO Monster Battle, Space Invaders Frenzy, Futuretown VR and more.
Daytona 3 Championship USA Off Screen 4k Footage – In the interest of full disclosure, I was the one who shot this footage. I’m using the better video of a Sega employee showing us how it’s done but if you want more, click here. This game is only 50% complete so it will change by the time it releases in Spring 2017 but many Sega fans are quite excited about the prospect.
4k video! http://arcadeheroes.com – Here’s the full course of Three-Seven Speedway on the new Daytona Championship USA 3 Arcade game played by a Sega employee. This should make up for the bad driving we saw in the other Daytona 3 hands-on video 😉 Filmed in 4k using a Blackberry Priv.
Cruis’n Blast Off Screen Footage – Kind of the same as above but this game is beginning to ship so you’ll find it out at arcades, movie theaters, bowling alleys, etc. starting next month.
http://arcadeheroes.com – You’ve been waiting for gameplay footage of the new Cruis’n and we finally have it for you. One thing the video doesn’t capture for you is the sound of sitting in the seat – the engine growl and rumble is good and is much better than FnF.
The Walking Dead Arcade Off-Screen – And for a 3rd round, checking out The Walking Dead arcade game that is launching in January 2017
http://arcadeheroes.com – Checking out the latest zombie shooter for the arcade industry, The Walking Dead by Play Mechanix and Raw Thrills. This follows in the footsteps of titles like Aliens Extermination, Big Buck Hunter, Terminator Salvation, Aliens Armageddon, and Doe of the Dead that light-gun titles that the company has released.
Pokemon Sun & Moon Available Now (Nintendo 3DS) – And apparently sales are spectacular.

New Tekken 7 Trailer (PC, PS4, X1) – The upcoming release of this to game console is exactly why pretty much no arcade in the US was interested in paying $14,000 for a set.
Are you ready to tell your story? All fights are personal. Tekken 7 is out Early 2017 on PS4, XB1 and PC. Like us: https://www.facebook.com/tekken Follow us: https://twitter.com/tekken Visit us: https://www.tekken.com

Homebrew of the Week: Bridge Strike (Amiga Computers) – I’m surprised that more games haven’t followed the River Raid formula, given how successful that game was BITD. Here is an upcoming River Raid like game for Amiga computers:
You can download demo version from this address: http://mega.szajb.us/juenizer/bscrunched Requirements: Please be aware, this is the first initial version.
Are you tired of winning yet #128
At the trade show I attended, there was a lot of cool tech as well. Companies are putting a lot of stock into VR though so we’ll see how that ends. Personally, I experienced a little bit of vertigo and after that, a long lasting migraine. Lucky me.
A poorly thought out VR concept – Perhaps they were rushed or they simply didn’t think of it. Either way, a hanging safety harness/crane is something you need if you are dealing with having people off the ground, even if they can see what they are doing. Unfortunately for the eye socket of one attendant, they had to learn this lesson the painful way:
Stumbled across this one at random at IAAPA 2016 and immediately recognized the terrible idea it is to involve an elevated plank with VR goggles, no railing or safety harness. Unfortunately, on attendant had to learn this the hard way. Ignoring safety concerns is something the VR amusement industry does at its own peril.
The Hall Effect Keyboard – Tomshardware.com has the full story on the revival of the Hall Effect keyboard; below is a video of it in action. For the layman, the hall effect deals with magnets.

A Dentist reviews the new Quip Toothbrush – I guess this is considered a top competitor to Sonicare.
Dr. Pereslete opens up and tests out his Quip electric toothbrush trial pack. “Seal of approval!” Dr. Pereslete practices General Family and Cosmetic Dentistry in Southern Orange County, CA. Space pr0n of the Week: A new view from Ceres – The mission at Ceres hasn’t received much attention thanks to being overshadowed by how awesome Pluto is but it still is an interesting place. The Dawn probe just snapped this great new view from above the dwarf planet’s most famous geologic feature, Occator Crater
