Last night, President Trump announced that he had planned to issue a big pardon today. There was much speculation as to who exactly President Trump would pardon. Names such as Paul Manafort, Edward Snowden, and Julian Assange were thrown around.
President Trump ended the speculation earlier today when he announced that he will issue a posthumous pardon to women’s suffrage activist Susan B. Anthony.

Susan B. Anthony was convicted of voting illegally by an all-male jury in 1872. Anthony refused to pay the fine that resulted from her conviction. The 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote would not be ratified until nearly 50 years later. Many saw it fitting that President Trump chose to mark the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment by pardoning one of the scions of the women’s suffrage movement.
Leftists, of course, used the pardon as yet another opportunity to attack President Trump because Orange Man Bad.
Susan B. Anthony was proud of her arrest and conviction, and that she notoriously refused to pay her fine.
She would not have wanted a pardon.
This isn’t the first time @realDonaldTrump didn’t listen to what a woman doesn’t want, and yet did it anyway.

This Susan B. Anthony pardon is the most disgusting appeal to gender I’ve seen in a while.

This is ridiculous. Susan B. Anthony wore her conviction as a badge of honor, one in a long line of leaders who used civil disobedience towards social progress. The last thing she would want is the misogynist in chief pardoning her. https://t.co/ai6WPxTfy8

hilarious that the people who coined the term “virtue signaling” are acting like donald trump gives a single shit about women because he symbolically pardoned susan b anthony. conservatives are now more whiney than the libs they once “owned.”

So Donald Trump is pardoning Susan B. Anthony. I’m confused. Isn’t she a hero because she was arrested? I thought he likes people that weren’t arrested.

If Susan B. Anthony were here today, Trump would call her a horrible, mean, nasty woman

Does anybody believe for one second that Trump knew who
Susan B. Anthony was a couple days ago?
Give me a fucking break!

Does Trump know Susan B. Anthony is dead? Because, you know, that thing with Frederick Douglass has me wondering.
— George Takei (@GeorgeTakei) August 18, 2020
Susan B. Anthony said Trump can take his Pardon and Go Fuck Himself!
Her words not mine!

The idea that Democrats are presuming to speak for what Susan B. Anthony would have wanted is especially laughable in light of the fact that Anthony was a Republican. In fact, the vote that landed her 1872 conviction was cast for Republican Ulysses S. Grant. Susan B. Anthony spent most of her life fighting against everything that the Democrats would have stood for, including slavery.
I think it’s pretty clear Susan B. Anthony would have been against everything the modern Democrat party stands for.
