After All, It’s For The Common Good
“But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues; And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles. But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you. And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved. But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come. The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household? Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.”
“One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you.”
For Public Safety: Part II — The Tweet from the Raleigh, North Carolina, Police Department said it all: Protesting is A Nonessential Activity! It’s come to this, friends. The suspension of the Constitution of the United States of America by local law enforcement and state and city government officials not only continues unabated, but has been ratcheted up in many cases. We are seeing the erosion of our Fundamental Rights right before our eyes…
“Push back against the draconian stay-at-home measures that state and local governments have imposed in an attempt to stop the spread of the Chinese Coronavirus has begun. Yesterday, concerned citizens held an #OpenNC protest in Raleigh, NC. The protest was peaceful, but it was still broken up by the Raleigh Police Department. One person was arrested for violating the governor’s stay-at-home order.
“Someone on Twitter asked the Raleigh Police Department what laws were broken. Their response was utterly chilling. In essence, the Raleigh Police Department has unilaterally suspended the First Amendment.”[source]
What does all of this mean, in the lead up to the possible reopening of the American Economy around the first week of May?
They’ve Shown That They Will Use Their Power. Friends, we have already seen how the Mainstream Worldwide Media has been given the power to scare, frighten, cause hysteria, and heavily influence government action and federal and regional shut-downs throughout the world. It has already been documented that the Mainstream Media now has The Power to cause mass panic, international mayhem, cause governments at all levels to go into lock-down and lock in and shelter-in-place mode. It has already been shown how the media has used similar power to influence people similarly in the past, and how the media will use this power in the future. The almost exact same can now be said of government and law enforcement…
“Democratic Governor Andy Beshear issued a stern warning on April 10th, stating that if anyone planned on attending a large gathering then they’d be subject to a 14-day period of confinement.
“During said announcement, he specifically cited church gatherings as well, due to Easter Sunday being days away at the time.”[source]
“‘I think we’re down to seven churches statewide that are thinking about having an in-person service,’ Beshear told reporters. The governor has warned that churches should switch to virtual or drive-in services to accommodate worshippers while protecting public health.”
“‘I hear people say, “It’s my choice,”’ Beshear said. ‘Well, it’s not the person next to you’s choice … This is the only way that we can ensure that your decision doesn’t kill somebody else, that your decision doesn’t spread the coronavirus in your county and in your community.’
“Under the new rules, people seen taking part in in-person events will have their license plate numbers recorded by authorities, who will provide the information to local health departments, Beshear said. Health officials will contact each participant and require them to go into quarantine for 14 days.
“The governor also warned that those attending drive-in services must stay in their cars, park six feet away from their neighbor and not pass items between vehicles.
“Beshear praised faith leaders for largely adhering to his admonitions against in-person worship services.”[source]
“Greenville, Mississippi Democratic Mayor Errick Simmons issued an executive order on April 7th banning all church drive-in services until the governor lifts the statewide shelter-in-place.
“On April 9th, eight uniformed officers arrived at King James Bible Baptist Church, where a drive-in service was occurring. The members were in their cars with their windows up, maintaining all social distancing guidelines. Officers began threatening to write citations to the parishioners in the amount of $500. Now, the church has filed a lawsuit against the police department through the Alliance Defending Freedom.” [source]
“A Mississippi church is suing the city of Greenville after police shut down its drive-in service this week in accordance with a city ban on the practice amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Attorneys with the Alliance Defending Freedom filed the lawsuit Friday on behalf of the Temple Baptist Church. The filing challenges Greenville Mayor Errick Simmons’ April 7 executive order that prohibits drive-in church services until a statewide shelter-in-place order is
lifted.“The suit comes after eight uniformed Greenville police officers reportedly issued $500 tickets to congregants who refused to leave a parking lot where a drive-in service was being conducted Wednesday, the ADF said in a statement announcing the legal challenge.”[source]
And these are but two stories of police, governors, mayors, and law enforcement officials overstepping the bounds of the United States’ Constitution, all in the name of “The Common Good”. Where does this end? We’ve already seen two pastors arrested for holding services in-person and at physical locations. What’s to come next?
A Biblical Precedent — In the Bible, we have a precedent for the forcing of the Believers in GOD underground and in “lock-down” mode…
“And Ahab called Obadiah, which was the governor of his house. (Now Obadiah feared the LORD greatly: For it was so, when Jezebel cut off the prophets of the LORD, that Obadiah took an hundred prophets, and hid them by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water.)…”
We see that a VERY anti-GOD government had been installed in the Northern Kingdom of Israel. We see, also, that the reigning queen, Jezebel, had “cut off”, or, executed prophets of GOD, forcing GOD’s surviving prophets underground. We’ve seen many who support the “Safer at Home”, “Shelter in Place”, lock-down and lock-in laws use the Bible to support the idea of simply staying home, staying in, and obeying the executive orders of governors and mayors. Those who support such like to use this passage…
“Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.”
And yet, we see this in the Book of Exodus…
“And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah: And he said, ‘When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she shall live.’ But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.”
Can anyone see what was written here? Yes, Pharaoh made a law, yet…
“But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.”
Look at Jesus the Messiah’s words…
“Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? For God commanded, saying, ‘Honour thy father and mother:’ and, ‘He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.’ But ye say, ‘Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, “It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;” And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free.’ Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition. Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, ‘This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.’ But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.”
Paul the Apostle also writes towards this…
“Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers. For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision: Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake. One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, ‘The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.’ This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith; Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth. Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.”
We see Biblical precedent in following the Laws and Commands and Teachings of GOD over and above those of men, when men are wrong in their dealings. The Apostle Peter also speaks directly to this…
“And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them, Saying, ‘Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.’ Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, ‘We ought to obey God rather than men. The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.’”
“‘But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.’ And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered and said unto them, ‘Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.’”
“Of these rights, one considered so sacred that it was placed first in the Bill of Rights, the right to peacefully assemble and worship, is now forbidden. The church…once the last bastion of peace when people have little to no hope, has been stripped from them. They are now shamed and punished for the simple act of exercising the First Amendment— coming together to worship and support each other; their pastors and bishops made criminals for nothing more than keeping the doors open to the one place they are able to congregate and find peace, just as those who swore to serve their God through serving the people as they have for centuries.
“If we are to willfully allow the one place people seek to find comfort, to be controlled by the government in the name of public safety, what’s next? Will we be told what is or isn’t acceptable in own homes? Will we be told what faiths are deemed acceptable by the government and which ones are not? Will we be pulled from our homes, persecuted by our neighbors, and prosecuted by those in power for not worshiping as they dictate? Many will consider this an extreme and even ridiculous concept. However if one only looks objectively at the pattern of history, our liberties and rights that are guaranteed to us when our country was created have slowly and quietly been eroded for the ‘greater good’ over the course of time. They will realize we the people are close to losing not just our freedom to worship, but we are dangerously close to losing all of our rights.”
Despite these possibilities and probabilities, we must Follow GOD! Even today, there are underground churches throughout the Muslim and Communist worlds, most meeting in danger on pain of death if caught. We must, as American Believers, do similarly, and fight and protest and demand our rights to assemble and worship freely…especially if worse is on the horizon (and it is).
Conclusion: Stand Fast! Paul the Apostle, again, states it best…
“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.”
GOD has given his people his promises and his armor…
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints…”
Prayer — Heavenly Father, we see the nations of the world, and executives of states, and law enforcement offers around the USA abrogating not only the Constitution of the USA, but your written Word, as well. Will you help us, O LORD, to follow you, despite these orders and edicts? Will you give us the strength to stand in Jesus Christ’s Name? We bless Thy Name, and pray all these things in the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
The Last Word — “Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.” (Romans vi. 16—19)
Notes — 1. All Scripture is taken from The Authorized King James Version of the English Bible. London, England, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK). First publication 1611AD.
2. Author’s Note: Similarly is written by Baramram, Moses. The Fourth Book of Moses Called “Bemidbar”, or “Numbers”. Wilderness of the Sinai Peninsula, Middle East. 16th Century BC. Ch. xv, v. 16: “One law and one manner shall be for you, and for the stranger that sojourneth with you.”
3. Author’s Note: It is of note to point out that Fox News’ Mr. Samuel Chamberlain writes of the governor being pleased with churches that adhere to “his admonitions”. Even though these are executive orders from the Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, they do not abrogate nor supersede the Constitution of the United states of America, nor any of its amendments (notably the First Amendment, two of whose freedoms the Governor of Kentucky is violating: Freedom of the Expression of Worship and Freedom to Peaceably Assemble)…
4. Author’s Note: The recent passing of Bishop Gerald Glenn via COVID-19, who was another pastor who defied restrictions on public gatherings and had planned to continue in-person church services, has been used almost ad nauseam by opposers of the Church and of Christians, and supporters of following unconstitutional edicts, to totally end in-person services at churches. Even Late Bishop Glenn’s daughter is now calling for in-person church services to end during this plandemic…
“In what won’t surprise anyone, the couple’s daughter, Mar-Gerie Crawley, is now telling the media that her father’s death has made the virus ‘very real’ to her. That’s why she’s now urging people to stay at home. ‘I just beg people,’ she explained, ‘to understand the severity and the seriousness of this, because people are saying it’s not just about us, it’s about everyone around us.’”[source]
5. Author’s Note: It is important to understand when someone is and is not using Scripture out of Context or in an out-of-place setting. The Constitution of the United States of America expressly forbids the prevention of the free exercise of worship and peaceable assembly. As such, the Constitution — which has yet to be suspended by FEMA or the President, nor has Federal Martial Law been declared — still overrides local and state authorities’ edicts and executive orders. As such, Romans xiii is NOT applicable in this situation. In fact, those who are going along with these unconstitutional edicts are, in reality, going against Romans xiii.
6. Author’s Note: Similarly is written by Baralphaeus, Marcus John “Mark”. The Gospel of Jesus Christ According to Saint Mark. Imperial City of Rome, Province of Italy, Imperium Romanum. 1st Century AD. Ch. vii, vv. 6—13: “He answered and said unto them, ‘Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, “This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.” Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.’ And he said unto them, ‘Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition. For Moses said, ‘Honour thy father and thy mother;’ and, ‘Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death:’ But ye say, ‘If a man shall say to his father or mother, “It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;” he shall be free.’ And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother; Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.’”
