The Late Christopher Hitchens on Bloomberg’s Nanny State

The Internet is Eternal (for now…)

It’s been almost four years since Your Uncle Bruno consulted the Ouija Board for a conversation with the late Christopher Hitchens.

That memorable if brief encounter was chronicled here, back in the days when Sparta Report was still Hot Gas.

Because the Internet is Forever, we can reach back in time even further to this classic piece from Vanity Fair wherein Hitchens takes aim at the Nanny State with his trademark acerbic wit

To protest the petty ordinances of Mayor Bloomberg’s New York, the author went on a one-man crime spree: taking his feet off his bike pedals, feeding pigeons, and sitting on a milk crate, among other offenses. Why are the people of America’s most cosmopolitan city being treated like backward children?

Who knows what goes on in the tiny, constipated chambers of his mind? All we know for certain is that one of the world’s most broad-minded and open cities is now in the hands of a picknose control freak.

And yet here we are a decade plus down the pike where tonight Bloomie will be standing on a milk crate of his own, going toe-to-toe with the other Democrat dwarfs at the pre-Nevada caucus debate.

If Hitchens piece isn’t enough to get Spartans to vote Bernie in the 2020 version of Operation Kaos nothing probably will…

Bruno Strozek

Written by Bruno Strozek

Bruno Strozek is the author of occasionally semi-coherent piffle and has been a Writer/Editor at Sparta Report since July 2016.

Strozek, along with his alter-egos the decadent, drug-addled Sixties refugee Uncle Bruno and his intolerably feminist SJW Cousin Brunoetta have been riding the not-yet crested wave of deplorability with posts covering politics, sports, entertainment and zombies.

Aptly described as both "hilarious and deeply disturbed" Strozek has enthusiastically embraced the recommendation of the late Raoul Duke that "when the going gets weird the weird turn pro."

Although he has fallen far short of his bucket-list goal of writing for such respectable rags as The National Enquirer and The Weekly World News Strozek is grateful for the opportunity to pen his unhinged screeds at Sparta Report and is constantly amazed and delighted at the reception his pieces receive in the cements.
