It’s official: as of 11:00 PM local time (6:00 PM EST) the United Kingdom has withdrawn from the European Union. After nearly four long years Brexit is finally a reality.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson tweeted a message of support celebrating this momentous occasion.
Tonight we have left the EU – an extraordinary turning point in the life of this country. Let us come together now to make the most of all the opportunities Brexit will bring – and let’s unleash the potential of the whole UK. 🇬🇧
