The Michael Avenatti train wreck just keeps getting better and better. Not only is Avenatti facing a rather insane amount of prison time for various crimes including fraud and literally stealing money from a handicapped guy, now he’s accused of embezzling money from a professional basketball player.
Breitbart has the story:
Michael Avenatti has been accused of embezzling $2.5 million from a negotiated payment Miami Heat player Hassan Whiteside thought he was making to his former girlfriend, Alexis Gardner, according to prosecutors.
Avenatti was supposed to be acting as Gardner’s attorney and had negotiated a three-million dollar deal with the NBA player to settle what promised to be an embarrassing lawsuit against Whiteside, the Los Angeles Times reported.
According to records, Whiteside paid $2.75 million for a first installment of which Avenatti was supposed to receive $1 million for his fee.
But prosecutors now say that Avenatti took $2.5 million from the payment and invested it in a share of a private jet for his personal use instead of giving it to his client.
The situation was reportedly discovered in bank records subpoenaed by a Santa Ana federal grand jury.
Remember, Michael Avenatti was at one time the darling of the Democrat party. He and Stormy Daniels were going to single-handedly bring down the Trump presidency because something something pay out. Michael Avenatti was even considered by many in the media to be a leading contender for the Democratic presidential nomination for 2020.
Instead, the Trump Curse decided to chain Michael Avenatti up to a rusty pipe in a dirty bathroom. Then it proceeded to reenact the curb stomp scene from American History X, but spliced it with the shower scene for good measure.
