Last night the House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed a resolution that condemned Democrat Representative Ilhan Omar for her history of blatant and continued anti-Semitic attacks on the Jewish community.
I would like to be able to continue that thought. I’d love to be able to stand here and say that Republicans joined with Democrats in order to hold bigot Ilhan Omar accountable for her actions. The world would be a better place if I was able to say that hatred had no place within the hallowed halls of the government of the greatest country in human history.
Unfortunately, that’s not what happened at all.
The resolution-authored by Democrats-that was originally intended to hold Ilhan Omar accountable for her history of anti-Semitic attacks morphed into a watered down “we condemn all hatred” circle jerk. It was the kind of resolution that allowed Democrats and Republicans to pat themselves on the back about how they “reached across the aisle” to say hate had no place in this country.
The resolution was also the perfect vehicle for Democrats to launch thinly veiled attacks on President Trump.
Rather than press the advantage that Ilhan Omar’s disgusting remarks had given them, the Republican party decided almost to a man to throw in the towel. The “principled” House minority bravely stood with Democrats to let Ilhan Omar off the hook once and for all.
When the votes were tallied four hundred and seven spineless weasels declared Ilhan Omar’s bigotry was no big deal.
Twenty three Republicans showed some spine and opposed this watered-down piece of garbage. Liz Cheney, Lee Zeldin, and Louie Gohmert were among the Republicans who actually stood on principle. These lawmakers took a stand and made it clear that they would not vote for a resolution that did not specifically condemn Ilhan Omar’s evil bigotry.
Liz Cheney has more balls than most of the men in the Republican party.
I let fly with a bit of a rant on Twitter, in which I laid out the strategy that the GOP should have used if they were serious about wanting to condemn hate and bigotry.
1. Once again the GOP proves that they are a party that does not want to win at any costs. Only 23 Republican representatives voted against the “anti-hate” resolution that doesn’t condemn @Ilhan at all.
The rest stood with the Democrats.

2. Why? Complete and utter cowardice. None of them wanted to be seen as voting against hate and bigotry. None of them wanted the media to say bad things about them. Instead of standing and fighting the GOP tucked their tails between their legs and took the easy way out…again.
— TKC (@trigwarnradio) March 8, 2019
3. Here’s what should have happened:
Every single GOP member should have refused to vote for that piece of crap resolution.
Every…single…one of them.
— TKC (@trigwarnradio) March 8, 2019
4. The second the vote was cast there should have been a press conference. During this press conference the GOP should have explicitly condemned Ilhan Omar and made it very clear that she is a bigot. Moreover, they should have called for her to resign.
— TKC (@trigwarnradio) March 8, 2019
5. To hammer the point home, the GOP should have said they refuse to vote on a resolution that does not condemn Omar’s hatred of Jews.
The next day Republicans in the House would have submitted a resolution that condemned Ilhan Omar & called her out as an anti-Semite.
— TKC (@trigwarnradio) March 8, 2019
6. Again, the resolution would have demanded that Ilhan Omar resigned, and made it very clear that there’s zero place for that kind of hatred in the House of Representatives.
— TKC (@trigwarnradio) March 8, 2019
7. Democrats, of course, would refuse to hold a vote on such a resolution. They would have circled the wagons around Ilhan Omar even more. We would see even more outrageous defenses of bigotry and hate from the Democrat party.
— TKC (@trigwarnradio) March 8, 2019
8. Finally, every member of the Republican party-from the lowliest House freshman to President Trump himself-would go full court press on all media outlets demanding to know why Democrats support Ilhan Omar in her hatred of Jews.
— TKC (@trigwarnradio) March 8, 2019
9. Of course, this would never happen. It wouldn’t be proper. It wouldn’t be civilized.
That’s
Not
Who
We
Are.
Fuckin cowards, the lot of them.

Make no mistake, this was a huge win for the Democrats. The anti-hate resolution took the focus off of the party. The twenty three Republican dissenters are all anyone will want to talk about now. You can be sure the media will spend the next few days hammering home the fact that these people voted in favor of hate.
Of course, that’s not the case, but the Minority leadership has made its decision. The GOP won’t support these dissenters against the media onslaught that will follow. The only people in the House that are worth a damn will be on their own.
Ilhan Omar won bigly as well. She’s now the woman who, barey sixty days into her first term in the House, took on Nancy Pelosi and won. What’s more, Omar stood up to the Islamophobia that runs rampant in the Republican party. Even now the troubadours on the Left are composing ballads painting her as the new superwoman of the Democrat party.
And all because the “principled” GOP couldn’t find the cojones to stand up for what’s right.
Pathetic.
