A second woman, Meredith Watson, has come forward and accused Virginia Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax of rape.
Meredith Watson alleges that Justin Fairfax raped her in 2000 when they both attended Duke University. Watson issued a statement through her attorneys at Evergreen Partners detailing her allegation. Meredith Watson also issued a call for Justin Fairfax to resign his position immediately.

Watson has released few details about her encounter with Justin Fairfax, but states that she informed friends and family of the rape immediately after it happened. The statement released by Evergreen Partners states that Watson is not seeking fame or monetary damages, but is coming forward out of a sense of civic duty.
Meredith Watson’s allegation comes a few days after former Democrat activist Dr. Vanessa Tyson accused Justin Fairfax of forcing her to perform oral sex on him during the Democratic National Convention in Baltimore in 2004. Dr. Tyson released a statement earlier in the week describing the encounter in graphic detail.
Fairfax has vehemently denied the allegation that he raped Dr. Vanessa Tyson, stating that their encounter was consensual.
UPDATE: Justin Fairfax has responded to Meredith Watson’s accusation.
In a statement issued shortly after Ms. Watson came forward, Mr. Fairfax issued another denial, calling the allegation “demonstrably false’’ and vowing that he would not resign.
“I demand a full investigation into these unsubstantiated and false allegations,’’ he said. “Such an investigation will confirm my account because I am telling the truth.’’
“I will clear my good name.’’
