Police officials in Sebring, FL, have confirmed that five people were killed and several wounded when a gunman opened fire at a SunTrust bank earlier this afternoon.
Police responded to the SunTrust bank on US 27 South when they received a call from a man who said he had just fired shots inside the bank. Sebring police and Highland County deputies arrived to find the suspect barricaded inside the building. The Sebring police SWAT team was also called in.
Sebring Police Chief Karl Hoglund said that SWAT was forced to breach the bank, and discovered the five victims during the course of the assault.
The suspected shooter was identified as Zephen Xaver, 21, a resident of Sebring. Police stated that he surrendered peacefully, and is now in custody.
Police have not yet established a motive for the shooting.
