Great: Broward County Screws Up Its Manual Recount

Brenda Snipes: Devious mastermind or just plain stupid?

There comes a moment where someone makes so many “mistakes” that you have to wonder whether they have malicious intent, or whether they’re just genuinely stupid.

Brenda Snipes’ staff in Broward County has officially reached that point:

Fresh off its bungled machine recount, Broward County’s second day of manual recounting temporarily stopped about an hour after it began Saturday when lawyers from both political parties pointed out that volunteers were counting the wrong ballots.

Hundreds of volunteers spent most of Friday sorting through 32,000 overvotes and undervotes in the Senate race between incumbent Sen. Bill Nelson and Republican Gov. Rick Scott. Broward officials announced Friday night they had finished their manual recount.

On Saturday, the volunteers started sorting about 22,000 undervotes and overvotes in the contentious contest for Florida Commissioner of Agriculture.

That came to a grinding halt when lawyers found thousands of overlapping ballots which clearly showed a vote in the agriculture race but were fuzzy in the Senate race.

“It appears there may have been some ballots from yesterday mixed in with the ones for today,” Broward Canvassing Board Judge Deborah Carpenter-Toye told reporters.

Forty-seven manila envelopes from the Senate recount were mixed in with the envelopes distributed for the commissioner race.

Broward County Canvassing Board Attorney Rene Harrod told Fox News the issue was caught in time and that none of the 47 envelopes made it to the canvassing board. It’s an important catch because it rules out the possibility of some votes being counted twice.

The deadline for the hand recount for the Florida Senate race is noon Sunday. The Senate race was thrown into a mandatory manual recount after votes tallied showed current Florida Governor Rick Scott narrowly beating incumbent Senator Bill Nelson by 12,603 votes.

The percentage difference between the two of them was less than the 0.25% threshold to avoid a manual recount.

Today’s outbreak of incompetence in Broward County comes after Brenda Snipes’ staff missed a 3:00 PM deadline for a machine recount by two minutes on Thursday. Snipes had bragged earlier that day about how her team would easily meet the deadline.

Broward reportedly submitted their tally late because an employee didn’t understand how to use the website properly.

I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that Broward’s machine tally would have added a couple hundred votes to Rick Scott and Ron DeSantis. Totally legit.

Let’s not forget that a Broward County employee (whose wife donated to Andrew Gillum) left a box of ballots in the back of an Avis rental car that was dropped off at the Fort Lauderdale airport. The incident was covered up by local media as well as the Sheriff’s office, which labeled the boxes as a “suspicious package” and shut down the airport for a few hours.

This was, of course, after we learned that the Broward County Sheriff’s Office had conducted a voter registration drive at the Broward County Jail. Officials had graciously allowed Parkland shooter Nikolas Cruz to register to vote…as a Republican of course.

Again, totally legit.

Of course even before all that Brenda Snipes had continued to “find” mostly Democrat votes well after Election Day, and long after the reporting deadline. When questioned about exactly how many votes still needed to be counted, Brenda Snipes was arrogant, evasive, and refused to answer even simple questions.

Even still, today’s screw up really does make me wonder whether Brenda Snipes and her staff are intelligent enough to pull off a complex task such as voter fraud. What are the chances that they’re all a bunch of grossly incompetent bureaucrats that have only kept their jobs as long as they have because no one has ever looked seriously at how Broward County conducts it’s business?

I suspect the odds of that are better than fair.
