Embattled Broward County Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes has officially submitted her resignation.

Snipes’ office confirmed her resignation to local media on Sunday.

Brenda Snipes has been at the center of a firestorm of controversy regarding her office’s handling of Broward County’s electoral process during the 2018 midterm elections.

The drama began the day after Election Day when Broward County officials kept finding more (mostly Democrat) votes. Snipes failed to report the number of votes found as well as the number of votes left to be counted, which is a violation of state election law.

Furthermore, Brenda Snipes arrogantly refused to answer any questions regarding how many ballots needed to be counted.

Snipes’ office courted further controversy when it was discovered that a Broward County official with ties to the Florida Democrat party left two boxes of blank provisional ballots in the back of a rental vehicle. The boxes were discovered by an Avis Rental Car employee when the vehicle was returned to the Fort Lauderdale airport. The find was labeled as a “suspicious package” by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office. The airport was shut down for several hours while the bomb squad investigated.

Brenda Snipes has faced withering criticism and accusations of voter fraud from political figures on all sides. Florida Senator Marco Rubio hammered Broward County relentlessly on Twitter during the recount process. Progressive Tim Covina and former Green Party candidate Jill Stein had also demanded Brenda Snipes’ ouster.
