Earlier today America witnessed a horrific mass shooting after a lunatic with a gun walked into a synagogue in Pittsburgh. This piece of human debris, whose name I will not mention, screamed “all Jews must die” as he opened fire on the worshipers. When the dust had settled 11 people were killed, and several others-including the gunman-were injured.
Very quickly we learned that the shooter was a Nazi with a special hatred of Jews and President Trump. In fact, he regarded Trump as a pawn in a Zionist conspiracy to bring down America.
He also had an account on the pro-free speech social media network, Gab.
Leftists across social media and in the press immediately began attacking Gab as a haven for alt-right neo-Nazi scum that, along with President Trump, had actively encouraged today’s massacre in Pittsburgh.
These same Leftists ignored the fact that the shooter also had Twitter and Facebook accounts.
Gab released a statement regarding the shooting as well as Gab’s user guidelines:
Gab.com’s policy on terrorism and violence have always been very clear: we a have zero tolerance for it. Gab unequivocally disavows and condemns all acts of terrorism and violence. This has always been our policy. We are saddened and disgusted by the news of violence in Pittsburgh and are keeping the families and friends of all victims in our thoughts and prayers.
We refuse to be defined by the media’s narratives about Gab and our community. Gab’s mission is very simple: to defend free expression and individual liberty online for all people. Social media often brings out the best and the worst of humanity. From live streamed murders on Facebook, to threats of violence by bombing suspect Cesar Sayoc Jr. that went unaddressed by Twitter, and more. Criminals and criminal behavior exist on every social media platform.
Shortly after the attack, Gab was alerted to a user profile of the alleged Tree of Life Synagogue shooter. The account was verified and matched the name of the alleged shooter’s name, which was mentioned on police scanners. This person also had accounts on other social networks.
Gab took swift and proactive action to contact law enforcement immediately. We first backed up all user data from the account and then proceeded to suspend the account. We then contacted the FBI and made them aware of this account and the user data in our possession. We are ready and willing to work with law enforcement to see to it that justice is served.
We have nothing but love for all people and freedom. We have consistently disavowed all violence. Free speech is crucial for the prevention of violence. If people can not express themselves through words, they will do so through violence. No one wants that. No one.

It should also be noted that Gab CEO Andrew Torba has stated numerous times throughout the day that Gab is cooperating fully with the FBI’s investigation into this horrific shooting. Despite that, however, the Left feels the need to punish the upstart social media network.
Earlier today PayPal severed its ties with Gab. A PayPal spokesperson confirmed that this was a direct result of Gab having allowed the Pittsburgh shooter to operate on its network. PayPal released a statement saying:
“When a site is explicitly allowing the perpetuation of hate, violence or discriminatory intolerance, we take immediate and decisive action.”
Again, no mention of Facebook or Twitter also allowing the shooter to have accounts on their networks.
Things have gone from bad to worse for Gab in the hours since PayPal dropped them. A few hours ago Joyent, Gab’s hosting provider, informed them that they are also severing ties with the network.
Breaking: @joyent, Gab’s new hosting provider, has just pulled our hosting service. They have given us until 9am on Monday to find a solution. Gab will likely be down for weeks because of this. Working on solutions. We will never give up on defending free speech for all people. pic.twitter.com/YvnBOFoQQn

Andrew Torba has said that Gab is currently working on a solution. He has also stated that Joyent’s move may result in Gab shutting down for weeks if they cannot meet the arbitrary deadline. At the very least such downtime would kill the forward momentum and growth that Gab has experienced in the last few months. At worst it could kill the network completely.
And yet Twitter and Facebook, who both allowed the Pittsburgh shooter to operate on their networks, and whose users commit numerous, terrible crimes, are left untouched.
“Free speech for me, but none for thee” indeed.
