Former presidential candidate, senator, and secretary of state John Kerry was seen meeting with foreign officials in Paris, France. according to former Trump campaign official Jason Osborne.
He tweeted out a picture that allegedly shows John Kerry leaving a confidential meeting with Iranian government officials. During the meeting, John Kerry was heard attacking President Donald Trump.
According to the report from Osborne’s friend —who was sitting near the former secretary of state’s table with the Iranians— the officials had a “five person security detail” and left the restaurant after getting into diplomatic vehicles.
At the end of his tweet, Osborne asked rhetorically if Kerry is “FARA registered,” referencing to the Foreign Agents Registration Act. FARA requires U.S. residents and businesses working in the interest of foreign powers to register with the federal government as “foreign agents.” Paul Manafort was charged with violating FARA when Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s found that he had not registered as a foreign agent when he lobbied for Ukranian interests.
The answer to Osborne’s question is unknown, and it is unclear if Kerry would need to register given he is a former secretary of state. It is also not clear what Kerry was discussing with the Iranians.
Still, there were questions last week over whether Kerry violated the Logan Act — an 18th century law that prohibits U.S. citizens from engaging in discussions with foreign governments “with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government” or “to defeat the measures of the United States” — when he met with the diplomats.
So John Kerry just left a meeting @ L’Avenue in Paris w/3 Iranians. A friend was sitting next to their table and heard JK blasting @realDonaldTrump. The Iranians had a 5 person security detail and left in diplomatic vehicles. Is he FARA registered? @seanhannity @TuckerCarlson
