McConnell: No, We’re Not Doing Gun Control

gun violence restraining order

McConnell is clearly signalling the Republicans won’t be supporting the mad dash for gun control the Democrats have whipped up. The Republicans at least understand how important this issue is to their base, and have seen the opinion polls showing that the latest media frenzy has failed to generate serious interest in a nationwide gun ban like the Democrats want.

I expect the current wave of hysteria to lose steam shortly:

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) declined to readjust the Senate schedule for a rush to gun control and will instead consider a banking bill this week.

The decision to forgo any gun control debate comes as the establishment media, gun control groups, and Democrat Senators fervently push for gun control now.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Bill Nelson (D-FL) are pushing an “assault weapons” ban targeting over 200 firearms, and Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) is pushing the same gun control he unsuccessfully pushed after the heinous attack on Sandy Hook Elementary School.

CNN reports that the only gun control bill that appears to have broad enough support for passage in the Senate is the “Fix NICS” legislation, pushed by Sens. Chris Murphy (D-CT) and John Cornyn (R-TX).

I also really like pictures of gas stations and claim full responsibility for the silly gas station motif. I'm presently trapped behind enemy lines in a blue state with no hope of escape! The ride never ends.
