All of the alleged widespread conspiracy and abuse at the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Department of Justice, and other Obama administration agencies and this does not immediately showcase a need for a second special counsel?
The just-released revelations showing the Obama administration was coordinating with various federal departments via texts, including the aforementioned ones, to attack and undermine the incoming President Donald Trump administration. This is a treasonous conspiracy that the head appointed law enforcement officer in the country has decided to let slide.
Of course, Jeff Sessions is continuing to allow the absolutely farcical and conspiratorial leftist Trump-Russia witchhunt by the current and only special counsel Robert Mueller. The abuse of Trump allies will continue for some odd reason because President Donald Trump seems incapable of doing anything outside of tweeting how corrupt his own government is and has been under his predecessor.
In his letter to GOP committee chairmen Chuck Grassley, Bob Goodlatte, and Trey Gowdy, Jeff Sessions said the appointment of a special counsel only occurs under “the most ‘extraordinary circumstances.’ ”
Despite the numerous accusations and admissions that there was a conspiracy at the FBI, involving the previous administration, to investigate candidate Donald Trump in hopes of disqualifying him from running for office and then to overthrow him after he won the 2016 election. The perpetrators of these actions violated numerous laws and used political propaganda to obtain warrants and permissions to wiretap candidate Trump.
None of that is extraordinary according to Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
Sessions wrote, “To justify such an appointment, the Attorney General would need to conclude that ‘the public interest would be served by removing a large degree of responsibility for the matter from the Department of Justice.’ ” Which gets to the crux of the matter, the Attorney General does not want to prosecute anyone from the Obama administration, despite ample evidence that crimes may have been committed, yet continues an investigation into President Donald Trump’s democrat alleged collusion with Russia.
Even if collusion were illegal, Hillary Clinton is vastly more exposed to the collusion charge than Donald Trump. This presupposes that the democrat alleged Trump-Russia collusion is true, which it has not even a shred of evidence to support the conspiracy theory.
To try and placate the Republican charlatans in the House and Senate, Jeff Sessions announced in the letter that he had named a federal prosecutor in Utah, John Huber, to lead an investigation into allegations that the FBI and DOJ abused a surveillance program against a former Trump campaign aide. The investigation, which will be the DOJ investigating itself, will take months while the statute of limitations wipes away all the crimes committed by the Obama administration officials.
“The additional matters raised in your March 6, 2018, letter fall within the scope of his existing mandate, and I am confident that Mr. Huber’s review will include a full, complete, and objective evaluation of these matters in a manner that is consistent with the law and the facts,” Sessions wrote.
In his letter, Sessions also noted that he had directed the department’s inspector general, Michael Horowitz, to open a probe into the allegations, an investigation that was formally announced on Wednesday. The ever-on-the-horizon inspector general Michael Horowitz will add these allegations to his probe and the final report is due to come out in
January February March April sometime this year or never.
President Trump himself stated last month that the Inspector General Horowitz has no powers to prosecute and given the current Obama friendly leadership at the Department of Justice, I will expect next to no action by the Sessions’ regime.
Why is A.G. Jeff Sessions asking the Inspector General to investigate potentially massive FISA abuse. Will take forever, has no prosecutorial power and already late with reports on Comey etc. Isn’t the I.G. an Obama guy? Why not use Justice Department lawyers? DISGRACEFUL!
After the Huber investigation into himself and the DOJ finishes, Sessions said that he would receive a recommendation about whether the allegations merit the need for another special counsel. At that point, if Sessions decides an appointment is necessary, the public will get to watch the paint dry for another year and a half while the special counsel begins the investigation again.
Of course, this means that this investigation will go on right into the 2020 election if the President has not yet been impeached first for violating the Deep State’s right to rule.
His decision is likely to not sit well with President Trump, who has frequently criticized the attorney general over his decision to recuse himself from the Russia investigation. And yet President Trump has steadfastly refused to fire the man.
