This is honestly baffling to me:
Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) demanded Saturday that President Trump tell Russian President Vladimir Putin to “butt out” of U.S. elections.
“The next time President Trump that you talk to Putin tell him to butt out of our elections quit the cyber warfare interference in our democracy,” Grassley wrote on Twitter.
Grassley’s tweet came after special counsel Robert Mueller unsealed indictments against 13 Russian nationals and three Russian entities on Friday for their alleged roles in an effort to disrupt and influence the 2016 presidential election.
After the indictments were unsealed Friday, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said that the allegations made in the documents did not suggest that any Americans were aware of the Russian efforts.
Needless to say, Grassley of course realizes how damaging an attack like this will be on Trump, especially a DC insider who has been in the Senate as long as Grassley has.
Does anyone know why Grassley would have had a Twitter meltdown like this? I’m honestly confused; in the past several days he’s taken significant media heat for supporting Trump’s agenda, do this really doesn’t make any sense to me. I’d love to hear from Iowan readers.
