Peak Woke: Pussyhats Are Now Offensive
We have finally, perhaps inevitably, reached the “peak woke” phase of the current feminist movement. Pink pussyhats, the iconic image of the Women’s March (which refuses to speak up for Iranian women) and the #Resistance (not counting Keith Olberman’s dirty, filthy mouth) are being thrown in the trash. No more will their horrible, pink hues tarnish the hair of the brave liberal women who used to wear them.
Pink pussyhats are completely, utterly, irredeemably offensive to transgender “women” and women of color:
But this time when marchers take to the streets in cities from Lansing to Las Vegas, there could be fewer pink pussyhats in the crowds.
The reason: The sentiment that the pink pussyhat excludes and is offensive to transgender women and gender nonbinary people who don’t have typical female genitalia and to women of color because their genitals are more likely to be brown than pink.
“I personally won’t wear one because if it hurts even a few people’s feelings, then I don’t feel like it’s unifying,” said Phoebe Hopps, founder and president of Women’s March Michigan and organizer of anniversary marches Jan. 21 in Lansing and Marquette.
“I care more about mobilizing people to the polls than wearing one hat one day of the year.”
Feminism used to be about equality. A feminist was someone who supported whatever choices women made. You want to go out into the workforce and build a career before raising a family? Have at it, sister. You want to forgo having a family altogether and focus on rising to the top of your field? You go girl! Want to stay at home and raise a family? All right, just keep your little critters off my lawn!
Feminism has slowly but surely devolved into a joke. It is a sad parody of a movement that only supports women when they make the right choice. Modern day feminism focuses on progressive buzzwords and meaningless protests. It has rendered itself completely and utterly useless in the modern world.
The sad thing is feminists don’t even see it.
