BREAKING: South Korea’s Ministry of Unification says North Korea accepts offer for talks on Jan. 9

This new development comes after President Donald Trump retaliated against Kim Jong-un’s threat of nuclear attack on the United States in a war of words on Twitter this week.

The North Korean dictator said on Monday that “the entire mainland of the US is within the range of our nuclear weapons and the nuclear button is always on the desk of my office. They should accurately be aware that this is not a threat but a reality.”

In his tweet, President Trump responded: “North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un just stated that the ‘Nuclear Button is on his desk at all times.’ Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!”

This isn’t the first time North Korea and the United States have come to verbal blows, North Korean dictators have declared war on the United States many times in their bluster over talks with their country for several decades now.

After receiving universal condemnation from that response, that evening North Korea reopened the emergency line with South Korea’s government. This was the first time they have done so in over two years.

However, this may be an actual new and positive development for the divided country of Korea that may see its best chance yet for reunification since it abandoned the efforts in 2010 over the nuclear weapons development of the North Koreans.

Exit question: Is this a clear victory for the aggressive diplomacy and sabre rattling of President Donald Trump?
