Weekly Gaming/Tech Thread #60 – Super Cyber Monday Edition
What Are We Playing This Week?
I played a little bit of DOOM & EDF 4.1 on PC, a little bit of Super Mario Odyssey and Puyo Puyo Tetris on Switch and some Halo 2 on the original Xbox. Not a whole lot this week really. How about you?
Newegg’s Cyber Monday Deals -Many including Newegg started their Monday deals earlier :/
SNES Classic To Be In Stock At Toys R Us Today – Likely sold out by the time this is published but who knows.
Amazon UK Dropped The Price Of The Xbox One X By 20 Quid For Black Friday – When it’s not flying off the shelves, you might as well discount
Along Those Same Lines, Switch Outpaces Wii Sales In First 10 Months
Pokemon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon Overview Trailer – It’s Pokemon so pretty much doesn’t need my comment. It will certainly help keep the 3DS relevant while between that and the Switch, the public would only ask “What’s a Vita?” if you bring up current day portable game systems.
Incapable of Double Jumping? There’s Now A “Safe Mode” For That! – In the aftermath of an incompetent game “journalist” being unable to figure out how double-jumping works on Cuphead, courageous game devs are here to the rescue their pansy brothers with a new safe mode for “gamers” incapable of handling the thing they are supposed to enjoy or in the case of a journalist – review. This is coming to the horror game SOMA; don’t be surprised if more games add such a thing as a “feature” in the near future to the praise of people who find this gaming thing to be an unfathomable challenge.
"There is nothing to fear. You are always safe."
SOMA is out on Xbox One from Dec 1st! Includes new Safe Mode, which is an update for PC on the same date, with PS4 to follow.https://t.co/GT0jI6EyPK#horror #indiedev #letsplay #scifi pic.twitter.com/WPIY20nYjF

Ultimate Fishing Simulator Hits Steam Early Access On Thursday – I know we have some fishermen around here so you might be interested in this game coming to Steam Early Access this week. Too bad in arcade circles we get ticket redemption versions of fishing instead of simulators like Sega’s Bass Fishing from the 90s…
MOAR IAAPA – I have had plenty to do this week with videos on brand new arcade games. Mainstream gaming news sources refuse to cover most of this stuff but not me! Giving Vid.me some love here since Youtube continues to be evil but if you want to see these in 4k, here’s the YT IAAPA playlist.
Injustice Arcade (Raw Thrills)
Family Guy Bowling (Team Play)
Super Chexx Pro (ICE) – the modern return of bubble hockey
And a little something for the guys as a ‘booth babe’ demonstrates Mannequin Challenge (Touch Magix):
Homebrew of the Week: Slipstream (Commodore 64) – It you enjoy archaic 3D and shooters, then this game has that going on plus plenty of loading 😛 It’s almost like having Star Fox on the ol’ C64. (You have to jump about 2 min in to see the game)
DOJ Sues To Block The AT&T/Time Warner Merger – Well, that’s easier than going after the Clintons
Google’s Anti-Conservative Algorithm Also Likes To Keep Pedophilia Monetized – And now advertisers are pulling their ads so as to not be associated with such videos. I’ve been uploading videos all week that are pretty much as innocent as you can get and yet the YT algorithm has deemed 98% of them as “not suitable for advertisers” until I get a manual review done and then they fix it. This ‘algorithm’ for deciding on what really isn’t suitable for advertisers shouldn’t be difficult to figure out what passes for objectionable content but it’s Google, where they are totally not evil because they say so.
Tesla Stirs Things Up With The Tesla Semi – Tesla’s new electric semi truck with autopilot features was unveiled recently and the biggest surprise was that it costs around $200k instead of the expected $400k. More details on the specs about these can be found here.
It Turns Out That You Can Reinvent The Wheel – Thanks to the US space program and the need for rovers to have better wheels to handle rugged terrain. Although yes, it is correct to say reinvent the “tire” instead of the wheel 😛
Space Pr0n Of The Week: Oumuamua – I wonder what it would take to slap together a little probe and send it to chase “Oumuamua” down for a close-up look. <conspiracy mode>Maybe it’s a spaceship and not an asteroid given the shape and that it’s all metal<conspiracy mode>. In my book, given it’s all metal, they should have called it “Metallica”. Either way, it would be really fascinating to see this up close while it’s still in our neighborhood. Here’s more details on the strange interstellar visitor with a funky name:
