Sparta Report’s own Mark Rosneck attended a speech on Friday at the Western Conservative Summit by Charlie Kirk, the founder and director of Turning Point USA, a pro-conservative student activist organization. Kirk is a young man at the age of 23, and like many of us, Kirk is discovering that the Republicans may not have been entirely honest with us about repealing Obamacare.
Early on in his speech, Kirk went off-the-cuff for about two minutes and vented his frustrations. I’ve transcribed the segment for your reading pleasure:
By the way, is anyone else, like, really upset with Congress right now? … I’m so disappointed. What are you doing all day long? I mean, seriously. I mean, who here worked, knocking on doors, made phone calls, so they would repeal Obamacare? And I have to hear about five Senators that don’t have the backbone to do what they said they were going to do? Are you kidding me? For seven years, we had to hear “We’re gonna repeal Obamacare. Just give us the House.” We gave the House. “Well, we need the Senate.” We gave the Senate. “Well, we need the White House.”
Now they have all three chambers, and we’re hearing nothing but excuses. And what makes me the most SICK, looking at Washington D.C., is that the people who voted for a full repeal of Obamacare only did it because they knew Obama was going to veto it. They LIED to us. They lied to us. They didn’t actually mean it. And so, I’m totally disgusted with what’s going on in Congress, excuse my candid extemporaneous comments…
There was a lot of applause in the room at the end of that segment. Yes, I realize this is only one activist organization, but how many other activists are feeling cheated right about now?
