The closure follows a night of rallies and marches protesting the Not Guilty verdict in the trial of a Hispanic St. Paul police officer who shot an African-American suspect following a traffic stop last summer.

The shooting aftermath was live-streamed on Facebook and became a flash point for local Black Lives Matter protests.

Local media coverage leading up to this afternoon’s verdict was almost universally focused on the “guilt” of the officer and the reaction of the media and the local activist community has been angry incredulousness. (very similar vibe to the shock visited on these same groups Election Night last November.)
