For our first Spartan Christmas, we’re doing the weekly game/tech thread a little early as to do it at Normal Time (Saturday afternoon) would mean that no one would read it. That’s ok…I wish all of you readers a very Merry Christmas and an equally Happy New Year. Let’s get to some news.
What Are We Playing This Week?
When I haven’t been checking out CW’s The Flash on Netflix, I’ve been playing a little Desert Strike on my Atari Lynx. I haven’t played much else though, how about you?
I also heard that there’s a Flash sale on PSN right now with games like Titanfall 2 half-off.
Find Jonesy Mode In Alien Pinball Detailed – The upcoming Alien Pinball (launching Jan 2017) will feature a mode where you have to find a cat while avoiding a xenomorph, just like in Alien. Also just released: Ambush Multiball Mode Trailer
A few weeks ago we showed you a teaser video for the ‘Find Jonesy’ mode in our brand new game, ‘Alien Pinball’ This is the extended cut of this video. Coming Friday 23rd December – ‘Ambush Multiball’ mode teaser video
Rollercoaster Tycoon Classic Now Available On iOS/Android – If you enjoyed the classic Rollercoaster Tycoon on PC, the game is now available for mobile devices. I personally never gave this one a spin (spent a lot of time on Theme Park though). Despite frequent stumbles in recent years, fans seem pleased with this one:
RollerCoaster Tycoon® Classic is a new RCT experience, combining the best features from two of the most successful and beloved RCT games in the series’ history – RollerCoaster Tycoon® and RollerCoaster Tycoon® 2. Create and run amazing parks complete with the most outrageous rides imaginable.
The Dwarves Trailer (PC, PS4, X1) – I just stumbled across this game that was recently launched by King Art Games. It is a tactical RPG based on, you guessed it, Dwarves. It has a heavy LOTR aesthetic to it but it is based on a series of novels by Markus Heitz.
The sidekick days of the bearded axe-wielders are over! https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-us/games/the-dwarves/cid=UP4389-CUSA06550_00-THEDWARVES000US1 The Dwarves is a fantasy role-playing game with a strong story and tactically challenging real-time battles. 15 playable heroes, each with individual skills, are to be deployed cleverly. Take on superior numbers of orcs, ogres, älfs, bögnilim, zombies, dark mages and many more foes, to give them the low-down.

History of The Super Game Boy – I never had a Super Game Boy as I did not own an SNES but I remember hearing a bit about these BITD. Here’s a relatively quick history about the product:

Blizzard Praised for “Bold Choice” to Make One of Their Hot Lady Characters A Lesbian in Overwatch – LOL at the Lefties who are trying to make the argument that a game company in 2016 is courageous or brave for making one of their primary game characters gay. If this was 1995 and it was Eidos making Lara Croft a sterotypical butch lesbian then they could make that argument. But now when every TV Show has token gay characters, streaming services have Gay & Lesbian Genres to watch, or SJWs throw loud fits over any game that doesn’t give you the option to be gay or a tranny, the idea that this required some amazing courage on Blizzard’s part is laughable. Call us when you make one of your heroes a perfectly stable and practicing heterosexual Conservative Christian (bonus if they wear MAGA gear). Then I’d like to see the Lefty game writers tell us about how “bold” that is as they twist themselves into logic pretzels.
Bonus in that SJWs want Blizzard to make more of the Overwatch heroes gay as that would help push the Fake News narrative that massive amounts of the population are gay when the reality is that it’s somewhere around 2-3%.
Game Music of the Week: Daddy Mulk by Zuntata, Ninja Warriors Arcade – Going with some old live music on this one. Zuntata is one of the more famous bands among video gamedom. Created by musically talented Taito staff members in the mid-80s, they have produced a plethora of memorable songs for well-known games: the Darius series, the Bubble Bobble series (which includes Puzzle Bobble), the Ray series and of course The Ninja Warriors. I personally find their work on the Darius series to among their best but everyone has their own opinions on that sort of thing. 😉 They’ve done various live shows in Japan so sit back and enjoy some Daddy Mulk from 1990:

Homebrew of the Week: Argus (Commodore 64) – Going back to the famous Commodore 64 computer is a new first person adventure game. I always like seeing more complex games like this on old hardware, especially the raycasting style first person type play. I believe there are a few adventure games on the C64 but not sure how many are exactly like this.
A very VERY early preview of ARGUS, an adventure for the c64. Art and design by Trevor Storey. Code by Achim Volkers. Music and sfx by Saul Cross.
7-11 Beats Amazon At Drone Deliveries but then you see that Consumer Interest In Drone Deliveries Isn’t Very High
The Method-1 Robot Project By Korea Future Technology – It looks a bit like those mechs seen in AVATAR…plenty of potential for heavy lifting can come from this…or robot boxing

The DIY Smart Mirror With A Raspberry Pi – Here’s a cool idea for those that spend a lot of time in front of the mirror and still need to stay connected. I imagine that as long as you avoid attaching a camera/mic to it and keep as much Google/Yahoo/Microsoft software off of it, your privacy is going to be fine:
In this video, we give you some detailed instructions on how to make an easy raspberry pi powered home smart mirror. A smart mirror displays applications so that you can check the weather, local news, etc. while you are getting ready in the morning.
What’s Inside Augmented Reality Ski Goggles? – Here’s some AR I could get behind, if I ever went skiing. I imagine these could be big on the slopes, assuming the resolution and frame rates don’t suck. Watch this video to see them ripped apart.

Edipeel Coating Looks To Keep Fruits & Vegetables From Spoiling – If it is all it is cracked up to be, this will do wonders for produce and short-term food storage.
1000 Degree Knife Vs. Coca-Cola – For those who have nothing better to do as this isn’t really tech. Just something you do when you have a camera and too much time on your hands. You have to jump to about 4:30 in for the Coke bottle, before that he “experiments” on various other items.

Space Pr0n of the Week: The Winter Wonderland of Enceladus (Source) – Most of our solar system is in the cold and it’s just one of those miracles that despite how cold it can get on Earth that it’s still survivable. Way out at Saturn is the cold world of Enceladus, one of Saturn’s more interesting moons after the Cassini probe discovered the “Tiger Stripes”, resurfaced areas, a possible underground ocean and geysers spraying particles out into space. I imagine that low-gravity snowmobiling would be a blast here…just watch out for those chasms.
Again, have a safe and happy Christmas season everyone!
